Alabama Knight Recounts Pilgrimage to Lourdes

United States Marine Corps Master Sgt. Ryan Leach, a member of Knights of Council 4083 in Tuscaloosa, AL, shared the following after returning from Lourdes France earlier this week. Learn more about the program at the Warriors to Lourdes website. I just returned from the annual Knights of Columbus Warriors to Lourdes pilgrimage. It was a trip of a lifetime and I appreciate the planning and sponsorships that allowed me to participate. Every year the Knights of Columbus sends a U.S. delegation to Lourdes on a pilgrimage and also to participate in the Pelerinage Militaire International (PMI), which is a multi-national pilgrimage that involves approximately 12,000 people from 50 countries. A Novena for Life sponsored by Knights of Columbus Alabama State Council will be held from May 5th until May 13th to pray for a culture of life and civilization of love in our community, nation and world.  Each evening beginning at 8pm Central Time, attendees may join on the phone or via the internet to lift our voices in prayer. A novena is a period of sustained prayer over nine days for a particular intention. Community members are encouraged to pray in their homes or to join us via telephone or online on each of the nine days of the novena.The protection of life is a sustained prayer intention of the Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus. That’s why Father McGivney chose the name “Columbus” for our Order — because the discoverer was the Catholic figure from American history most admired and accepted at the time.
