Knights of Columbus Council 6727 at St. Columba Parish in Dothan held its annual seminarian dinner at the parish on July 12 to financially support 15 seminarians of the Archdiocese of Mobile.
Following an initial gathering and social hour, Master of Ceremonies Chris Hart welcomed guests and dignitaries, including Archbishop Thomas J. Rodi, keynote speaker Tom Riello and area clergy. St. Columba pastor Fr. Jim Dane gave the blessing before the meal.
Following Archbishop Rodi’s introduction of the seminarians, Archdiocese of Mobile Vocations Director Fr. Patrick Gilbreath briefly discussed his idea for the “25 for 25” prayer intention. He is personally praying for 25 seminarians in the year 2025 and will also invite parishes to do so. Also in attendance were St. Columba Parish Parochial Vicar Fr. Thomas LaPointe, Deacon Joe Mueller and retired pastor Fr. Patrick Gallagher.
As in past years, the attending seminarians received a check from the Knights of Columbus to help pay for their personal expenses in the coming year.
Next year’s event is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
